Guigal Cote Du Rhone Red
Lovely blend of the three most classic Rhone grapes. 50% Shiraz giving black pepper and blackcurrant, 45% Grenache, bringing redcurrant tartness and Mouvedre to round out the flavour. Dryness and damson notes with green notes. A spicy, complex wine with good structure and a long finish
A blend of traditional Douro red grape varieties, led by the perfumed Touriga Nacional, with the addition of 20% Syrah, a variety which Quinta do Noval believes is perfectly suited to the climate and soils of the Douro. The wine is aged for 10 months in French oak barrels, 12 % in new barrels. The nose reveals spicy aromas, followed by chewy flavors of chocolate, and dark plum. A firm acidity on the palate, slightly smoky finish which enhances the purity and the freshness of the fruit.
Red wines are made from the juice and skin of black grapes. They range in colour from intense violet to brick red and brown for older red wines. The main grape varieties used to make red wine are shiraz, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, malbec, pinot noir, zinfandel, sangiovese and barbera.
