Reposado or ‘rested’ tequila is any tequila which is aged for a minimum of two months but less than a year in oak barrels. It takes on a golden hue and has a balanced and robust flavour caused by the combination of agave and wood from the barrels.
AquaRiva Premium Reposado is another creation from the vivacious distillery of Cleo Rocos. Fresh agave and aged for nine months as a minimum, it’s a tequila with a complex and enticing character. Lime zest, fresh leather, white pepper and fresh dough come through in the nose and lead into a similar flavour with strong black pepper added in as well as the heat of cinnamon. Casco Viejo Reposado Tequila is a genuine Jalisco tequila, produced by a family owned company founded all the way back in 1938. As the 4th largest tequila distillery in Mexico the quality of the product is exceptional, with many professionals involved in its production and it’s that classic strong agave flavour that comes though clearest, with warm spicy notes of black pepper coming through at the end. Refreshing and enjoyable however you drink you tequila.
Two months of maturation ensures Cazadores Reposado has a touch of colour and a hint of oak to its flavour. An ideal choice for your classic tequila cocktails or even popped over ice as an enjoyable sipping drink. It’s a wonderful choice if you’re a fan of classic tequila and though the agave doesn’t come through on the nose, it certainly does when you taste. Del Maguey single-village mezcals are very rare and highly sought-after, having picked up the title of World's Best Mezcal at the World Spirits Competition every year from 1999-2002. This bottle of Chichicapa was made in the village of the same name, and scored a hugely impressive 94 points from WIne Enthusiast.
Don Fulano Reposado is another stylish offering from the distillery who do things a little differently. It has similar characteristics to the blanco with rich, herbal freshness. However, the time spent developing means this reposado has notes of bitter dark chocolate and warming maple added into the mix. A sharp boost of peppery spice also lifts this tequila, though it still remains wonderfully fruity and intensely herbal.
Don Julio Reposado Tequila is a 100% agave offering which spends eight months maturing in bourbon casks. It has a depth of flavour which is largely down to this maturation process and both almond and coconut notes come through alongside subtle spice and creamy vanilla in the nose. On tasting you’ll enjoy a biscuity depth with notes of sweet orchard fruits, cinnamon and white pepper which hangs around until the end.
El Jimador Reposado is made from mature blue agave and spends two months resting in American oak barrels. Golden hues escape from the bottle thanks to this process and the flavour mellow yet rich with toasted agave at the forefront. Almond, vanilla and baking spices create an aroma to draw you in and then they also prop up the agave flavour with additional sweetness. Smokiness comes through at the end and is a welcome addition to the sweetness.

Herradura Reposado was launched in 1974 and the recipe has stayed the same ever since. One of the world’s first commercial reposado tequilas, the flavour benefits from 11 months ageing in oak casks. The aroma has an enticing note of cider, sweet apples, vanilla and cinnamon. This heady concoction is built upon as you sip with full bodied caramel, chocolate, nutty almonds and black pepper coming through. It’s the nutty notes that linger until the end.

La Hora Azul or "the blue hour" tequila is a line of tequila owned by the Don Good Tequila Company of Las Vegas, Nevada. The name is meant to be an "homage to that beautiful twilight when a blue light accompanies the sun before it rises and sets." The reposado (or "rested") expression will have been aged for between 3 and 12 months in oak prior to bottling, providing a note of vanilla from the wood to soften the agave. They suggest serving with "chili laced Mexican chocolate.
Ocho Reposado Tequila is timed to precision to deliver the exacting flavour that its creators demand. Aged for exactly 8 weeks and 8 days, Ocho Reposado is made from 100% blue agave and has an aroma which is rich in vanilla and leads into a soft, delicate flavour that brings out sweet almond and vanilla notes with a little cinnamon spice. Vegetal notes come through in the flavour of red peppers and are teamed with citrus. It’s a vegetal tequila which is light, enjoyable and subtle to the end.
Olmeca Altos Reposado spends a little longer being aged than other Olmeca tequilas, with 18 months in 200 litre white American ex-bourbon casks. It retains a super sweet and fresh flavour with its aroma packed full of bright fruitiness, notes of strawberry and cherry. The woody smokiness from the casks is apparent and is brought out even further when you take a sip. Slightly sweet honey comes through alongside the smokiness and the aftertaste is long, powerful and memorable.

Sauza Hacienda Tequila Reposado which has the mellow flavour you’d expect from a good Reposado. Flexible and perfect for combining with a wide range of mixers and soft drinks, the nose is very sweet with caramel depth and hardly even a trace of the alcohol within. When drinking, you’ll enjoy the potency of the drink and a syrupy mouth feel which once again brings out those caramel notes and roasted agave.
Sauza Hornitos Tequila Reposado is a golden tequila which spends a year maturing to develop a woody depth to its flavour. Multi-layered aromas are revealed on opening with salt, pepper and liquorice even coming through. A tinge of black pepper entices you to drink and the flavour is exceptionally sweet, especially compared to the other Sauza offerings. Vanilla, oak and light spice bring the end note to a satisfying close.
Sauza Tres Generaciones Reposado is triple distilled to guarantee a wonderful smoothness and it then spends four months or more resting in oak barrels. The flavour is intense with peppery spice which first comes through in the nose but this is tempered by enjoying toasted notes and a background of herbal, vegetal flavours, especially agave. The lingering spice from the pepper is warm and dry on the palate, without being overwhelming.
This delicious and moreish tequila has a rounded flavour that isn’t lacking in spice. Tapatio Reposado is robust without being overwhelming and mellow agave is supported by more prominent notes of sharp green apple and a trademark pepperiness this brand is known for. As it coats the palate a creamier depth becomes apparent, with notes of sweet caramel and chocolate tempering the hot pepperiness. Remnants of the ageing process are apparent until the end, with wood smoke lingering on.
Del Maguey Vida Mezcal is 100% organic and made by hand. This extra care and attention delivers a natural flavour, unblended and surprisingly complex. Smokiness and warmth comes through in this mezcal, with peppery notes mellowed by a caramel honey depth. It’s wonderful if you’re mixing or sipping and the aroma, heavy with fruity aromatics, will draw you in on first opening. The finish is long, soft, delicate and above all else, entices you to try another sip.
Fortaleza tequila is hand-made from stone-crushed agave by Guillermo Sauza, a fifth generation Sauza family-member. The Reposado is a perfect balance of vegetal notes from fresh agave and vanilla wood from its resting in bourbon barrels.
The Añejo is aged for 14 months. It is refined and complex, with flavours of soft caramel and vanilla. A perfect balance of sweetness from the blue weber agaves, with subtle spice from the oak barrel ageing and a long, smooth finish.
