An award winning 16 year old Speyside whisky from the Tomintoul distillery in Banffshire. Matured in ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 40%, this is an easy drinker that more than lives up to the tag of ‘The Gentle Dram’. We're big fans of white Port, and of whisky obviously, but it's not too often that the two meet, so this rare occasion is most welcome! Distilled at Tomintoul in 2008, this 14-year-old single-malt Scotch was finished in white Port casks, imparting delicious sweet, vinous notes to the elegant malt at its core.

Nomad is a unique whisky. A collaboration between sherry producer González Byass and Whyte & Mackay master blender Richard Paterson. A blended Scotch whisky aged for more than five years in sherry butts is shipped to Jerez for further year's ageing in PX casks.

Hibiki Japanese Harmony is a blend of Japanese malt and grain whiskies from Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita. Presented in the brand's trademark 24-faceted bottle representing the Japanese seasons, this is light, approachable and moreish with enticing notes of orange peel and white chocolate.

A fabulous no-age statement single malt from Paul John over in India! This one has been dubbed Nirvana, and while it'll suit any whisky lover, it was created with those who are only just beginning to drink whisky in mind. Indian barley and charred American oak casks work in harmony here, with lots of barley sugar and honeyed notes to enjoy.

American Oak is Seattle-based distillery Westland's flagship release. Made with barley from Washington, this is rich and creamy with notes of chocolate custard, almond and bananas. Seattle distillery Westland uses locally sourced ingredients to create American single malt whiskies that honour the tradition of American whiskey-making with a Pacific North West twist.

Glenmorangie's Quinta Ruban 12 Year Old is a fantastic Port cask finished expression, and now the distillery has developed upon the recipe with The Quinta Ruban 14 Year Old! The whisky is initially matured in bourbon casks before being moved over to ruby Port casks, imparting waves of scrumptious fruit and chocolate notes to the spirit. Superb as a postprandial dram.

A bold, flavour-forward Texan pot still bourbon from Balcones, matured in charred oak casks, creating aromas of honeycrisp apples, toasted oak, popcorn, savoury crackers and well-oiled leather that fill the nose. The palate offers notes of honey, vanilla cream, roasted pecans, sandalwood and leather that linger in the finish.

This is the first Texan whiskey, as well as being the first whiskey to be distilled from blue corn! When we first tried this we thought it was wonderful, though very "different". These days it's become a firm favourite, along with the rest of the craft distillery's fantastic releases.

WhistlePig is a fantastic brand of straight rye whisk(e)y which is distilled and initially matured in Canada before being aged further, at the WhistlePig Farm in Vermont. The Master Distiller for WhistlePig was Dave Pickerell, who was the Master Distiller for Maker's Mark for 14 years, Sadly now deceased. Their 10 year old straight rye is made with 100% rye and delivers a full-on flavour profile of clove, mint, barrel char, creamy caramels and butterscotch. Properly excellent stuff.

A heavily peated malt for a Speyside distillery, bottled at higher proof, Old Ballantruan is an unusually peated single malt from the Tomintoul distillery. d to create a real fudge-like taste which is extremely moreish.

Oh, For Peat's Sake! It's here! This is a particularly peaty blended Scotch whisky from the Angus Dundee team, perfect for everyone who loves smoky yet still approachable expressions. Ought to do well sipped neat, and we think it'd pair rather handsomely with a good quality cola, too...

A high-wheat content release from Woodford Reserve. This one is made with 52% wheat, 20% malted barley, 20% corn and 8% rye. Another fresh, tasty release from the popular distillery.

The Glencadam 25 year old is limited to 1,030 bottles, this is a rich and complex whisky with notes of tropical fruit, nuts, ginger and pepper - aptly named 'The Remarkable'. Nose Malt and leather, crushed nuts, resin, touch of acetone and citrus. Palate Nutty with starfruit, more citrus and red berries. Finish Honeyed oak and dark spices.

A dense, heavily-sherried dram from a distillery now producing again after a six-year layoff. A malt best suited to after-dinner sipping.

The tiny Isle of Arran was once rife with working distilleries but many of them lucked out when the market became swayed towards quantity rather than quality. Many distilleries fell into disuse until 1995 when a distillery in Lochranza reopened it’s doors to become home to the Isle of Arran Distillers. Then in July 1998, the first legal dram of whisky was served for over 160 years. The 10 year old single malt is a medium-bodied, whisky with a nose of herbaceous hedgerow and biscuits with a sweet, malty palate followed by green fruits and apples.

A fascinating release from Speyside's superb Balvenie Distillery. This expression was initially aged in American oak casks, before being transferred over to casks that previously held Pineau from France. This has introduced a generous helping of honey-glazed fruit and a subtle leafy hint to this 16 year old single malt's flavour profile.

ottled in Bond whiskeys have to be aged for a minimum of 4 years, and bottled at a 100 proof (50% abv). Jack Daniel's bottled in bond is 80% corn, 12% Rye, and 8% barley. Fermented using their own house yeast, and aged in their own barrels, coopered in house to their specifications. Lots of caramel notes, rich oak and spice.

Jack Daniel's Triple Mash is a combination of 20% Jack Daniel's World Famous Maple Charcoal Mellowed Tennessee Whiskey, 60% Jack Daniel's Rye Whiskey and 20% Jack Daniel's American Malt Whiskey (they make malt whiskey too!). A dram with honey, malty notes and balanced soft oak notes, Jack Daniel's shows some of the intriguing whiskeys they make in their renowned distillery. They make all their barrels fully in house to be contructed and toasted to their specifications, all their whiskey is aged in Lynchburg Tennessee, and the yeast in the fermentation process is cultivated from their first post prohibition yeast, all the way back in 1938. Great to find out that one of the most well known drinks in the world is made in a geeky way, similar to what would be considered 'craft' (scaled up quite a bit).

Howler Head brings together Kentucky bourbon and natural banana flavour to create a fab tipple that'll be excellent sipped neat or over ice. All those familiar bourbon flavours – caramel, honey, baking spices, and the like – pair wonderfully with the estery deliciousness of banana, so no surprises there. Howler Head will also do well in fruit-forward twists on classic cocktails, like the Old Fashioned or the Manhattan... Nose: Huge helpings of vanilla and banana fritter, followed by a whiff of cinnamon, with a touch of cask char developing. Palate: Ripe banana esters with a hint of banana pancake too, backed up by brown sugar, peppercorn, and toffee. Finish: Banana chips with a drizzle of honey, and a final hint of oak spiciness.

A premium light whisky which has a distinctive sweetness and deeper notes of citrus and even biscuits to further enhance its taste. Malty on the palate, cream soda, jasmine tea and tropical fruit all add to a deep and enjoyable drink. Whether it’s enjoyed in a single dram or supped in a classic cocktail, the flavour of Cutty Sark won’t be forgotten in a hurry.
