They make all their barrels fully in house to be contructed and toasted to their specifications, all their whiskey is aged in Lynchburg Tennessee, and the yeast in the fermentation process is cultivated from their first post prohibition yeast, all the way back in 1938. Great to find out that one of the most well known drinks in the world is made in a geeky way, similar to what would be considered 'craft' (scaled up quite a bit).

Woodford Double Oak, 70cl
An interesting twist on Woodford Reserve's classic straight bourbon. The whiskey is first matured in new charred white oak barrels, as usual, but before bottling is transferred to special heavily toasted, lightly charred finishing barrel. This gives it quite a different flavour to normal, with lots of spicy oak coming through on the palate.

With gold medals under its belt this 21 year old Glenlivet is highly regarded and its taste stands up to its reputation. The nose is full and rich with woody notes, sandalwood and pine coming through with sharp resin. Potpourri and brown sugar also come through, wrapped in acacia honey and the palate too is full-bodied with oily walnuts, baking spices and fruitcake creating a delightful and enjoyable flavour.
