Jules Gautret Pineau des Charentes Blanc , 70cl
Pineau des Charentes is a sunny liqueur wine with a soft fruity fragrance. For the last four hundred years, it has been the special guest at Charente tables, as an apéritif but also with desert. According to legend, Pineau was born following the 1589 grape harvests. A winegrower put grape must into a barrel and then realised there was still some eau-de-vie at the bottom. Annoyed by his mistake, he put the barrel in the corner of the cellar and forgot about it. When he opened the barrel a few years later, he discovered an astonishing beverage of yellow-golden colour.
Its clear texture, honey taste and fruity notes seduced this Monsieur Pineau, who named the liquor wine after himself. The Pineau des Charentes was born.
