Nose: The first hints of fresh almond and harvest aromas immediately open up into preserved lemon and dried fruits, the whole rounded off by darker smoky and toasted qualities. Named for the distillery’s number 10 still, Tanqueray No. 10 gin is based upon their classic recipe with some exciting additions. Enjoy the depth of flavour added by additional camomile and fresh grapefruit, lightening the nature of the gin and adding a refreshing edge. With almost sherbet undertones, No.10 has a rounded palate which combines floral juniper with the citrus notes and additional spice from coriander and white pepper. The new flavours create a sweetness which is very welcome and wonderful when mixers are added.

The clue’s in the name with this one, Balvenie Doublewood Single Malt gets its name from the interesting distillation process, involving distillation in two woods. The maturation process involves moving the whisky from a traditional oak whisky cask to a Spanish oak sherry cask, adding more depth to its flavour and creating its warm, rounded character. Sweet fruit and sherry notes are apparent in its scent and the taste is mellow for a single malt, the sherry at work once more, with nuttiness and cinnamon notes building too.
