Here we have a three-year-old rum from Ron Viejo de Caldas, which is a Colombian producer that’s garnered a considerable international reputation. This rum has been entirely matured in ex-bourbon barrels. Sip it neat, or make it part of a cocktail.

 A truly exceptional Guatamalan rum, Zacapa Centenario XO is a premium offering which doesn’t disappoint when it comes to flavour. Beautifully delicate, the flavour of Zacapa Centenario XO is matured in a mix of bourbon and sherry casks which together deliver a flavour which is exceptionally sweet and sugary, without being sickly. The softness on the palate of this mature rum is surprising and very welcome, with only a hint of smoke coming through in the finish.

Interestingly, now that industry giants Diageo are distributing Zacapa, the '23 years old' age statement has suddenly been dropped and replaced with a somewhat more plausible claim – the rums used are aged between 6 and 23 years old and are blended together in a solera.

Santa Theresa 1796 was released in 1996 and has had huge success and enjoyment since this date, commemorating the 200th anniversary of Santa Theresa’s foundation. With bronze amber hues and an aroma rich in honey, sherry and bitter Brazil nuts, Santa Theresa is dry on the palate and wonderfully mellow. Chocolate and vanilla notes are released as you enjoy each sip and it ends on a satisfying and rounded buttery note.

Full bodied and packed with deep brown sugar notes, Skipper is a molasses-based rum which brings together seven different individual rums. Its deep mahogany hues hides a brawny, bittersweet flavour which is burnt on the palate and features crème brulee notes. One of the rare 100% pot still rums out there, Smith & Cross is a Jamaican favourite which allows tropical fruity flavours to define its character. A powerful shooter like no other Stroh 80 is an intense and fiery rum which Austria is very proud of. It’s often enjoyed atop sweet desserts and as an additional kick to a comforting hot chocolate. Sweet notes of Demerara sugar can be picked out of the fiery heat of Stroh 80, alongside a soothing butterscotch with nutmeg hints. A very high-strength overproof pot-distilled molasses rum from Mauritius, Tilambic is aged for up to seven years. The 151 represents the strength in US proof, which means that this rum is 75.5% abv and as such should be used extremely carefully and not ingested neat.

Replacing the Westerhall Plantation Rum (Westerhall's range underwent a redesign in mid-2016), Westerhall Rum No.5 is a great base for all manner of fruity rum cocktails. Creamy, caramel-led palate. Notes of allspice, Black Forest honey, a hint of fruit and custard.

A classic Demerara Navy style rum produced in Guyana, Wood’s 100 blends together a range of young rums. Rhum Clement was founded by Homere Clement in 1887 in Martinique, a small Caribbean island which has a unique terrior and the perfect tropical climate and humidity for producing rhum. It is the only French Caribbean island to have an AOC appellation, which they recieved in 1996.

The bouquet shows pungent, oak shavings, cinnamon and nutmeg with dried fruit, caramel and toffee apple. The palate is bitter cider apple, dried fruit, cut grass, woody tannins and spice (cinnamon, nutmeg and black pepper) with figs, fruit cake, mocha coffee and cocoa. The finish shows dry woody tannins and spice.onds.

A dark dark rum from St Lucia, made by blending together 3-year-old column-still rum and 6-year-old pot-still rum, all aged in ex-bourbon casks. It combines the fresher and more citrusy character of the younger rum, with rich, brown sugar notes, toffee and tobacco from the older. A well-rounded and easy drinking dark rum.
