A statement from the whiskey maker notes that this expression is a cask-strength bourbon with a limited run of just 1,620 bottles. Each will be individually numbered. Don Julio Anejo 1942 spends up to two and half year ageing, nearly enough to be classed as extra anejo. It’s stilled in a single pot still and has the wonderful spiced aromas of cinnamon, sweet agave, vanilla and interesting Turkish delight. The taste is deep with cinder toffee notes, the continual flavour of the agave and bursts of sweet, zesty citrus. Dry and nutty the finish is long with notes of smoke.

With gold medals under its belt this 21 year old Glenlivet is highly regarded and its taste stands up to its reputation. The nose is full and rich with woody notes, sandalwood and pine coming through with sharp resin. This 18 Year Old offering from The Dalmore Distillery is a Highland whisky of much note. Rich and fruity with more than a little spice, chocolate and orange are the true stars of this malt, making it a wonderfully wintry and festive choice. The palate is wonderfully warming and perfect for sipping by the side of an open fire, chocolate raisins, sherry and pepper evoking this image. Cocoa-rich and melt in the mouth.

Six different types of wooden cask are involved in the making of this exception King Alexander III offering from The Dalmore. With influences from Madiera, Marsala, Kentucky bourbon, wine, port and sherry casks, this truly is a complexly developed malt that stands out. The 11th edition of Bruichladdich's Black Art series is a 24-year-old unpeated single malt, drawn from casks that were filled before the Islay distillery's 2001 renaissance. The newest release from Glenfiddich Distillery in Speyside, Glenfiddich Grande Couronne 26 Year Old is an exceptional and opulent single malt whisky for the most meaningful occasions.
