The original absinthe, Henri Louis Pernod founded the world’s first absinthe distillery and their modern product still uses many of the methods and ingredients of their original blend. Deceptively milder than its high proof alcohol content, Pernod Absinthe is understated and smooth to drink with the notes of aniseed and wormwood present but not overwhelming. Light green in colour is has natural herbal aromas and a distinctive touch of lemon, best enjoyed with water and sugar.

This entry level Bunnahabhain single malt is a lightly peated offering from Islay and is aged for 12 years. An absolutely cracking American whiskey from the Boondocks range, helmed by Dave Scheurich, former master distiller of Woodford Reserve. This expression is made with a combo heavy in corn, along with helpings of rye and malt, and matured for 11 years before bottling. It's not quite a bourbon, as it was distilled to a higher strength than allowed for bourbon (which is 160 proof, or 80% ABV), and matured in used charred white oak bourbon barrels (rather than brand new ones).

With a history dating back 6,000 years, the Fenjiu Distillery still follows the ancient methods, using organic sorghum, water drawn from the Gouzhuang spring 840 metres below the nearby forest, double fermentation, double distillation with cornhusks added to the fermented grain, and long maturation periods in ceramic pots. The grain culture used to start the fermentation process is a combination of barley, peas and water, formed into bricks and left to develop in warm, humid conditions for up to two months until they grow yeasts, fungi and microorganisms. Fenjiu is matured in ceramic jars for between five and 30 years before blending and bottling. These breathable containers allow micro-oxygenation of the spirit and remove impurities, all without adding flavour. The Silk Road series is exclusively for overseas market.Although no sugar was added, the Silk Road Rose Fenjiu presents a soft rose sweetness, making it a perfect pair to a sweet dish or class tonic water." MINOR CASE STRAIGHT RYE WHISKY is “what might have been” in a bottle; In 1871, M.C. Beam began his distilling career under the supervision of his Uncle Jack Beam. By 1883, he was a partner at his own operation, where he brought his son Guy — Steve and Paul Beam’s grandfather — into the business, reawakening the stills that were silenced by Prohibition. Minor Case is an ode to what master distiller M.C. Beam’s rye whiskey would have tasted like had he not been stifled by Prohibition, aged in cream sherry casks for an unforgettable flavor. Nose: Earthy notes and sweet sherry Palate: Hint of sweet butterscotch Finish: Smooth, with hints of dried fruits--- Nose: Mince pie and stem ginger. Touches of dusty oak and honey'd cereal. Remus Straight Bourbon is produced at Indiana's Ross & Squibb distillery, and named after famed 'King of the Bootleggers', prohibition hero George Remus. This bourbon spent between five and six years maturing in charred American white oak barrels before being bottled at a satisfying 47% ABV. With sweet layers of maple and vanilla, supported by elegant helpings of rye, it's a solid sipper and would make a great choice for classic cocktails.
