A solid and spicy rye made to the Michter's recipe, although not distilled at the now closed Schaefferstown distillery. Nonetheless, Michter's is a name with a certain cult cachet in American whiskey circles, and we reckon this will be a big hit over here. Released in the UK in 2014, the Mount Gay Black Barrel rum is made from single column and double pot distilled rum, though using a higher proportion of double pot distillates than their other expressions. It is also finished in heavily charred bourbon barrels before being bottled.

Your ancestors may even have heard of this one, Mount Gay is one of the world’s oldest rums, dating back to the 18th century. Pure Barbadian spring water and sugar cane are blended to create the trademark flavour, the recipe still the same as when first created. Notes of apricot and banana burst from the bottle and there’s a subtle smokiness that comes from the Kentucky bourbon barrels the rum is aged in.

Known locally as Mount Gay Black this fine Barbadian rum brings together many different blends with ages of between 8 and 12 years. In Barbados you’ll hear calls for a ‘Black and Coke’ and this can only mean a good old shot of Mount Gay XO in their drink. Spicy apricot, fiery heat and honeyed fruit work together to create the distinct flavour of Mount Gay XO. The maturation process adds a dry oaky complexity to the drink, a distinction which is widely enjoyed.

Made from nine specially selected Jamaican rums, Myers's is complex and rich yet still smooth enough for cocktails. Aged in bourbon barrels for a minimum of five years, enjoy this dark rum in an array of drinks.

A Nardini, who can trace their history back to 1779. Acqua de Cedro liqueur Made with cedro lemons, Nardini describe this as "the noble cousin to limoncello". Although similar in flavour profile, this is drier, in part due to the tart juice from the cedro lemons.

Bottled at 40% abv, instead of the regular 50%, the Nardini Grappa Bianco 40 makes for a smoother, lighter sip that might crack open up the cracking would of grappa to people who wouldn't have tried it before.
