Grand Noir Cabernet Shiraz, 75cl

Vineyard Notes The grapes, selected from low yielding vines, come from the areas of Carcassonne and the Minervois, in association with Celliers Jean d'Alibert. Winemaking Notes The two varieties were vinified separately. Both went through a period of cold soak. fermentation on skins lasted 2 weeks prior to pressing. There was very limited use of press wine. Tasting Notes The blend of rich blackcurranty Cabernet and brambley, gently peppery Syrah makes this a very distinctive wine. The vanilla character of the oak is present but subtle, and the tannins are softer than in many Cabernets. A very luxurious drink; silky and satisfying. Food Style Good with a range of red meat dishes, but its soft fruity character makes this an attractive wine to drink by itself.

Grand Noir Chardonnay, 75cl

Vineyard Notes We have selected vineyards in the area of Carcassonne and the Minervois based on grape flavour and yield. The wines are produced and bottled in association with Celliers Jean d'Alibert. Winemaking Notes The grapes were cold macerated then pressed, cold settled before fermentation. 30% of the Chardonnay was fermented in French and American oak barrels, and remained on lees in barrel, with some stirring, for six months. Tasting Notes Chardonnays come in many styles, from light and minerally to rich, buttery and oaky. We wanted to make a Chardonnay that was satisfying, yet fresh, and with a sufficiently interesting flavour to capture the imagination. From the outset, it was crucial that it would be a great accompaniment to food. This is a fresh, pine-appley wine, with a subtle hint of oak and a touch of mango and ginger Food Style Great by itself or to accompanyall fish and white meat dishes. Will work well with oriental food.

Firm tannins and food-friendly acidity balance the plush fruit, leading to a long, pleasant finish. The intense character and complex nature of this Cabernet Sauvignon is a strong partner for meat dishes such as beef stew and roasted venison. Try it also with a flavourful starter, such as gorgonzola and walnuts, or a simple dessert, like espresso gelato.

Invisible Feteasca Neagra, 75cl

A bold, dry red wine grown in the South of Moldova. A beautiful hue of deep maroon in colour, with a well-structured medium body. On the nose there is an array of red berry fruits with the prominent presence of blackcurrant. Upon touching the tongue, fine tannins accompany a soft round mouth.. Dark summer cherry is the dominant flavour note, but hidden in the finish is a surprising flash of cracked black peppercorns. This wine benifits immensely from being allowed to breath for a time and should not be drunk immediatley upon opening .

Lacryma Christi Rosso, 75cl

Lacryma Christi Rosso, or tears of Christ, is one of the most traditional wines from Campania. There are many stories of how Lacryma Christi received its name. One legend tells that when Jesus was ascending to Heaven, he glanced down at the earth, saw the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius and wept tears of joy at its beauty. Those tears fell on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius and vines miraculously grew in their place. Another story is based on winemaking techniques used by local monks in Campania. Lacryma Christi has been produced since the Roman Empire and as the monks didn’t have any filtering equipment, juice was instead passed through a canvas. As the wine fell drop-by-drop through the material, it was said to look like tears.
