Young and sprightly, Patron Silver is the youngest of their tequilas and its flavour reflects its youth. Clear in colour and rich with fruity aromas, particularly citrus, Patron Silver is refreshing and has a smooth sweetness about it. Soft and light the flavour is peppered with hints of citrus with natural agave taking centre stage. Light peppery notes hit on the finish adding some welcome bite to the end note.

Gosling Black Seal 151 is a full-flavoured dark rum that has the additional benefit of oak barrels which have been used to age bourbon. It stands out against other rums of the region because of its caramelised flavour and the bourbon notes that the oak casks offer. The taste of treacle melds with spicy cinnamon and orange zest to create a depth of flavour which is both inviting and demands another taste. The strength of flavour is perfect for combining with ginger to create the perfect Dark & Stormy.

Produced in Oaxaca, Ilegal Joven is a young Mezcal which has the distinctive flavour of roasted agave and earthy tones which help it stand out from the crowd. Its aroma are fresh and youthful, with fresh flowers, peppermint and tobacco notes all coming through. It has a complex herbal character which is softened by caramel and raisin flavours and spiced up with black pepper heat. It ends with the floral notes at the forefront.

An unpeated whisky from Paul John Distillers, released in early 2013 to much acclaim. It's made using barley from the foothills of the Himalayas and is distilled and matured in Goa, producing a fruity spirit with a creamy texture.

Tico Reposado Tequila - 700ml Award-winning, additive-free tequila from Arenal, just outside of Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico. A 100% agave expression which spends up to 8 months maturing in ex-bourbon barrels, leaving it with a rounded finish, golden hue and notes of honey, butter and caramel.

Glenmorangie's Quinta Ruban 12 Year Old is a fantastic Port cask finished expression, and now the distillery has developed upon the recipe with The Quinta Ruban 14 Year Old! The whisky is initially matured in bourbon casks before being moved over to ruby Port casks, imparting waves of scrumptious fruit and chocolate notes to the spirit. Superb as a postprandial dram.

Produced at Japan's Kyoto Distillery, Ki No Bi is the first gin to be made in the city. Made with a rice spirit and botanicals including yellow yuzu, Japanese cypress, green tea, bamboo and sanso berries (Japanese peppercorn), this has classic juniper notes which complement the Japanese botanicals. With a warming and spicy finish, this will make a delicious G&T.

The entry level bottle from the Glenkinchie Distillery, this 12 year old malt is rich in the classic flavours whisky lovers look for. The nose is light and fragrant, with cereal notes and a little barley sweetness most prominent. The flavour is fruity with notes of sweet Madeira, calvados and tannic oak flooding the mouth. Fresh and rounded, this dram is vibrantly refreshing with just a little gentle spice coming through.

Del Maguey Vida Mezcal is 100% organic and made by hand. This extra care and attention delivers a natural flavour, unblended and surprisingly complex. Smokiness and warmth comes through in this mezcal, with peppery notes mellowed by a caramel honey depth. It’s wonderful if you’re mixing or sipping and the aroma, heavy with fruity aromatics, will draw you in on first opening. The finish is long, soft, delicate and above all else, entices you to try another sip.

Twelve years work and dedication goes into the creation of El Dorado 12 year rum and three different stills’ worth of spirit is used to guarantee a perfectly smooth and enjoyable drink. The length of maturation helps develop the fruit flavours within the rum, prunes, dates and toffee apple come through strongly with sherry treacle and cinnamon spice flavours also complimenting the flavour profile. The balance of this rum is delicate, leaning slightly towards the sweet but not without a welcome hit of spice.

Laphroaig Quarter Cask was released in 2004 to much esteem. Youthful compared to other offerings it’s a highly commendable malt which still has a bold, enticing flavour despite its young age. Oily and butter rich on the nose, toffee, nuts and hickory smoke come through measuredly. The palate gives a bold hit of sweetness with fiery chilli heat coming through quickly in pursuit, medicinal freshness, chewy cereals and even a hint of cola also follow.

The tiny Isle of Arran was once rife with working distilleries but many of them lucked out when the market became swayed towards quantity rather than quality. Many distilleries fell into disuse until 1995 when a distillery in Lochranza reopened it’s doors to become home to the Isle of Arran Distillers. Then in July 1998, the first legal dram of whisky was served for over 160 years. The 10 year old single malt is a medium-bodied, whisky with a nose of herbaceous hedgerow and biscuits with a sweet, malty palate followed by green fruits and apples.

With Legent, we finally get to see the results of the merging of Beam and Suntory in liquid form. This is a fun east meets the west bottle. Legent is a result of years of collaboration between Fred Noe, Jim Beam Master Distiller, and Shinji Fukuyo, Suntory Chief Blender. It’s an effort of uniting a master blender and a distiller from two different worlds. It began with Fred distilling the bourbon in Kentucky. Shinji visited Kentucky to taste the barrels throughout the aging process. Once the whiskeys were ready to be blended, Shinji stepped in with his blending expertise..

Remy Martin VSOP Mature Cask benefits from a precise maturation process which involves placing the eaux de vie in specially selected Limousin oak casks that are more than 20 years old. These casks allow the fruity notes of the blend to be enhanced further and it’s a wonderful cognac which can be enjoyed over ice or as a key flavour in a sophisticated cocktail. Apricot and peach take centre stage with notes of rose and sweet vanilla following after.

A very high-strength overproof pot-distilled molasses rum from Mauritius, Tilambic is aged for up to seven years. The 151 represents the strength in US proof, which means that this rum is 75.5% abv and as such should be used extremely carefully and not ingested neat.

Appleton Rare 12 Year Rum brings together rums of ages between 12 and 18 offering one of the finest quality aged rums that Jamaica has to offer. Should do very well simply sipped neat, but we reckon it'll also make for a great Palmetto or Rum Old Fashioned...
