A lip-smacking expression from 1423's Compañero range, based around rum from Trinidad and flavoured with plenty of orange alongside various tropical deliciousness. Well suited to enjoying alongside particularly sweet puddings, we reckon.

The 54% is hidden in the chocolate notes, which brings warmth to this 12-year-old Panama rum. Nose: Heavy dark chocolate, hot cream, and touches of citrus. Palate: Almost like mini muh chocolate and with notes of cocoa. This rum is marked by the casks with a bit of orange, but the chocolate notes outshines the most of it. Country: Panama Age: 12 years

The rum base is an aged Caribbean rum previously used to season empty whisky casks for final maturation. Rhum Clement was founded by Homere Clement in 1887 in Martinique, a small Caribbean island which has a unique terrior and the perfect tropical climate and humidity for producing rhum. It is the only French Caribbean island to have an AOC appellation, which they recieved in 1996.

Don Q Gold is produced in Puerto Rico using a multiple distillation technique, and is allowed to age in American oak barrels before it's bottled. A good choice for sipping neat or splashing in a cocktail.

Koko Kanu is named to pay homage to the Jamaican Arawak Indians and its flavour is light, fragrant and heavily inspired by the ever-popular coconut. From the pristine lagoons to the lush jungles, Plantation Isle of Fiji is an ode to the beauty of the Fiji Islands and beautiful they are too! This delicious rum is made using traditional techniques and local Fijian sugar cane. First aged in this tropical climate in bourbon casks, the rum is then sailed to the southwest of France for a second maturation in French oak casks. Black Tears is produced using molasses sourced from four sugar mills in the Ciego de Avila province of the country. Coffee and cacao is used to create the spice flavour in the rum, which is produced by Grupo Azucarero (AzCuba Sugar Group). The company, which was formed seven years ago, has recommended a serve of 5cl of Black Tears to 15cl tonic in a highball glass.

Legendario's Elixir De Cuba is a created using a blend of aged Cuban rum and raisin extracts and brought down to 34% ABV. A light, relaxed punch, perfect for a warm summer evening.

Ron Matusalem went and sourced some wine casks for this limited edition release! The rum is charcoal filtered and matured in a solera system, before it's finished in casks which previously held Tempranillo wine. The tropical notes from the rum work wonderfully with the spicier notes from the wine cask, with just 8,000 bottles released. Rather snazzy bottle there, too.

The Duppy Share folks teamed up with the brilliant British musician and actor Kano to create Duppy White! It's a 100% Jamaican rum, featuring a fantastically vibrant and delicious flavour profile of mango, peppercorn, lemongrass, and more. Absolutely suitable for sipping neat to appreciate that full-bodied flavour profile, and it'll also do wonders in all sorts of classic cocktails. The label features oodles of references to Kano's life and Jamaican culture, styled similarly to a 7-inch record.

The Carta Blanca rum from Santiago de Cuba is a molasses-based rum which is initially aged in oak casks and filtered before bottling, removing the colour but not the flavour (making it a good choice for cocktails).
