Nordés Atlantic Galician Gin is an intriguing gin made with an Albariño grape based spirit , rather than your more commonly seen grain based potion , with 12 botanicals including lemon peel , hibiscus, liquorice and eucalyptus. An exciting and unusual gin from Islay whisky distillery Bruichladdich, The Botanist is made in a Lomond still christened Ugly Betty and contains no fewer than 31 botanicals, of which 22 are native to the Southern Hebridean island itself. The latter include the likes of mugwort, meadowsweet and the enigmatic Lady's Bedstraw flowers, and the resultant dry gin is described, perhaps unsurprisingly, as 'floral'.

The Warner Edwards distillers in Northamptonshire have brought us another flavour of excellent gin - they have been prolific since their start in 2012. This time, they've gone regal and created Rhubarb Gin, , as well as their Harrington Dry Gin. They also add just enough sugar to balance out the acidity from the rhubarb, producing a spirit with plenty of sweetness and some subtle, enjoyably sour notes emanate from the rhubarb.

The guys from Ben's Canteen in London have made a gin! Handcrafted from a small copper still in the bar area of Ben’s Canteen in London, in addition to juniper it contains honey and oranges, as well as 10 other botanicals. The Wandsworth honey represents living and working in London, while the oranges represent holidaying and dreaming in Mallorca – as, so we're told, the eponymous Ben often likes to do. Garnish with a slice of orange and a sprig of lavender.

An award-winner with additional sloe , what’s not to like? Sipsmith’s London Dry gin has been combined wonderfully with fresh hand-picked sloe berries at the height of ripeness. The end result is the rich and luxurious sloegin which simply bursts with fresh fruit flavour. Redcurrant and winter fruit aromas are released on opening and on tasting cassis and hints of warm cherry come through, offering a rounded flavour which benefits from a velvet smooth mouth feel and balanced sweetness. Big juniper and bitter Tyxylix flavours upon entry that move into crushed cornflakes and spicy juniper flavours. A big kick on this one that moves into hazelnut and baked rye bread on the very end. Bloody interesting stuff.

Citadelle Gin is a wheat based gin which soaks up the warm flavour of cognac through its production in cognac stills. 19 botanicals are added to create the distinct flavour of Citadelle, leafy on the nose and clean on the palate. Peppery grains of paradise partner refreshing juniper in a fragrant concoction which works and the sweeter citrus notes help create a rounded flavour which is a little on the spicy side.

Named for the distillery’s number 10 still, Tanqueray No. 10 gin is based upon their classic recipe with some exciting additions. Enjoy the depth of flavour added by additional camomile and fresh grapefruit, lightening the nature of the gin and adding a refreshing edge. With almost sherbet undertones, No.10 has a rounded palate which combines floral juniper with the citrus notes and additional spice from coriander and white pepper. The new flavours create a sweetness which is very welcome and wonderful when mixers are added.

A traditional gin distilled in Hammersmith, Sipsmith’s brings together ingredients from around the world. Its juniper is Macedonian, its coriander Bulgarian and its almonds and liquorice are sourced from Spain. This is just the beginning and this genuine London distilled one shot gin bursts with clean and woody flavours which are both satisfying and tempting. Juniper and coriander take centre stage in the traditional gin and zesty citrus comes through later with a hint of spice. Liquorice comes through in a final flourish and lingers in the mouth.

The name ‘Jindea’ is a portmanteau of ‘Juniper’ and the French words for India and tea, which provides a fairly accurate picture of the brand, as it is made in an alembic still in France, with juniper and first-flush Darjeeling tea as its main botanicals. Jindea’s other botanicals are lemon, grapefruit, coriander, ginger, fennel, cardamom, cinnamon, and angelica. Maceration lasts between three and five days, followed by pot still distillation.

Elephant Gin, great Gin, and gives to a great cause, Elephant charities. To serve: Indian tonic and an apple wedge. Apple is one of the 14 botanicals nestled into the bosom of this gin, and bringing it to the fore really helps to freshen up the palate.

Here we have Stonewall London Dry Gin, inspired by the Stonewall riots in New York in June 1969. The gin itself is distilled in Lincolnshire, and boasts almond, blueberry, liquorice, cardamom and sea buckthorn among the botanicals. This is a gin with a cause, and for every bottle sold the producers will donate £1 to the Stonewall Charity, which campaigns for the equality of the LGBT community across Britain.
