An absolutely cracking American whiskey from the Boondocks range, helmed by Dave Scheurich, former master distiller of Woodford Reserve. This expression is made with a combo heavy in corn, along with helpings of rye and malt, and matured for 11 years before bottling. It's not quite a bourbon, as it was distilled to a higher strength than allowed for bourbon (which is 160 proof, or 80% ABV), and matured in used charred white oak bourbon barrels (rather than brand new ones).

The Kyoto Distillery, the city's first dedicated gin maker, has fast become recognised for its fastidious attention to detail. Its second release, Ki No Tea, has been meticulously created to the same exacting standards. Silk Road Rose Fenjiu: "Based in Shanxi province, southwest of Beijing, Famed for its elegant ‘light-aroma’ style. With a history dating back 6,000 years, the Fenjiu Distillery still follows the ancient methods, using organic sorghum, water drawn from the Gouzhuang spring 840 metres below the nearby forest, double fermentation, double distillation with cornhusks added to the fermented grain, and long maturation periods in ceramic pots. The grain culture used to start the fermentation process is a combination of barley, peas and water, formed into bricks and left to develop in warm, humid conditions for up to two months until they grow yeasts, fungi and microorganisms. Fenjiu is matured in ceramic jars for between five and 30 years before blending and bottling. These breathable containers allow micro-oxygenation of the spirit and remove impurities, all without adding flavour. The Silk Road series is exclusively for overseas market.Although no sugar was added, the Silk Road Rose Fenjiu presents a soft rose sweetness, making it a perfect pair to a sweet dish or class tonic water." MINOR CASE STRAIGHT RYE WHISKY is “what might have been” in a bottle; In 1871, M.C. Beam began his distilling career under the supervision of his Uncle Jack Beam. By 1883, he was a partner at his own operation, where he brought his son Guy — Steve and Paul Beam’s grandfather — into the business, reawakening the stills that were silenced by Prohibition. Minor Case is an ode to what master distiller M.C. Beam’s rye whiskey would have tasted like had he not been stifled by Prohibition, aged in cream sherry casks for an unforgettable flavor. Nose: Earthy notes and sweet sherry Palate: Hint of sweet butterscotch Finish: Smooth, with hints of dried fruits--- Nose: Mince pie and stem ginger. Touches of dusty oak and honey'd cereal. A highly commended malt which offers wonderful value for money and exceptional flavour, this 15 year old Dalwhinnie lets its simple yet effective flavour notes do the talking. On the nose it’s all about aromatic toffee, sweet nectarine, apple blossom and just the slightest touch of smoke. When it comes to the palate you can reveal in malty walnut depth, sticky manuka honey and that gentle smoke weaving into the midst. Simplicity at its best.

Santa Theresa 1796 was released in 1996 and has had huge success and enjoyment since this date, commemorating the 200th anniversary of Santa Theresa’s foundation. With bronze amber hues and an aroma rich in honey, sherry and bitter Brazil nuts, Santa Theresa is dry on the palate and wonderfully mellow. Chocolate and vanilla notes are released as you enjoy each sip and it ends on a satisfying and rounded buttery note.

El Supremo rum is aged 12 years in Incienso Marron barrels and finished in french oak casks

Remus Straight Bourbon is produced at Indiana's Ross & Squibb distillery, and named after famed 'King of the Bootleggers', prohibition hero George Remus. This bourbon spent between five and six years maturing in charred American white oak barrels before being bottled at a satisfying 47% ABV. With sweet layers of maple and vanilla, supported by elegant helpings of rye, it's a solid sipper and would make a great choice for classic cocktails.

The drink which sparked a new revolution, La Fee Absinthe Parisienne was one of the first absinthes newly licensed when the drink was once again made legal. Distilled in Paris utilising a 19th century recipe, La Fee Parisienne is exclusively authenticated by Marie-Claude Delahaye, founder and curator of the absinthe museum. With classic green hues and the flavours of traditional wormwood, fennel anise and hyssop it has both an herbal aroma and sharp aniseed flavour.

Tokinoka Black is a Japanese whisky that was created by Akito Ueda, master blender at the White Oak distillery. It was made with a blend of malt whisky (50%) and grain whisky (50%) before being in matured three different types of casks - ex-bourbon, ex-sherry and new oak barrels. This edition is bottled at 50% ABV

Montelobos Espadin is a mezcal with a mulitude of flavours, perfectly complementing each other for a unique drinking experience: damp earth, asparagus, smoke and honey.

A bottle of Calvados containing a 'captive apple'. Each carafe is suspended from the branches of apple trees in the springtime before the first apples appear. The apple then grows inside the carafe. When the fruit becomes ripe, the carafe is removed from the tree with the apple captive inside. The bottles are then filled with young Calvados at 70% which allows the apples to settle down and stabilise before they are refilled with Calvados. The apples inside the bottles then gently macerates inside the Calvados filled bottles. The visually-attractive bottles make excellent gifts. Best consumed as a digestif and enjoyed at room temperature.

The strongest vodka we have ever come across, Balkan 176 comes in a bottle with 13 different health warnings (including one in Braille), mainly because it's at 88% abv. It is produced in the Czech Republic, and is triple distilled and essentially shouldn't be drunk neat, sniffed, held or even owned.

The clue’s in the name with this one, Balvenie Doublewood Single Malt gets its name from the interesting distillation process, involving distillation in two woods. The maturation process involves moving the whisky from a traditional oak whisky cask to a Spanish oak sherry cask, adding more depth to its flavour and creating its warm, rounded character. Sweet fruit and sherry notes are apparent in its scent and the taste is mellow for a single malt, the sherry at work once more, with nuttiness and cinnamon notes building too.

Stormy by name, stormy by nature Talisker Storm is a youthful whisky which has the characteristics of the Talisker distillery as well as smoky notes and an interestingly complex flavour profile. An initially briny nose leads into banana, citrus and white pepper notes. This multi-faceted nose leads into a similar palate, with additional wood smoke and biting chilli heat. It ends on a dry note, satisfying and welcome.

An incredible rum – winner of a Platinum medal and ranked in First Place by the prestigious Beverage Testing Institute in Chicago, with a whopping 97 points. Interestingly, now that industry giants Diageo are distributing Zacapa, the '23 years old' age statement has suddenly been dropped and replaced with a somewhat more plausible claim – the rums used are aged between 6 and 23 years old and are blended together in a solera.

Barbancourt Rum 15yr Haiti , 70cl

Fabulous decanter style bottle of Plantation Extra Old rum from Barbados. The rums are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks then transported to the Charente (home of Plantation's owner, Cognac producer Pierre Ferrand) and undergoing a second maturation in small French oak casks.

Jose Cuervo Anejo 1800 is an exceptional offering for one of our favourite tequila distilleries. Aged for over a year and selective French oak casks, each bottle of this tequila has been prepared to perfection. The aroma is rich in roasted coconut, toffee and a woody floral depth. This leads into a flavour which is equally woody, with the spice coming through in the form of cracked black pepper. The end note is dry yet immensely satisfying, wonderful for sipping at leisure.

An extremely high strength rum from Saint Vincent. This is distilled from molasses in a column still.

Made from 100% holandas spirits and aged using the traditional Criaderas y Solera system. Lepanto Solera Gran Reserva Pedro Ximenez is then aged for at least 15 years in American oak barrels; 12 in barrels previously holding Tio Pepe and three in barrels holding Noe, a 30 year old Pedro Ximenez.

A blanche absinthe distilled in a pre-ban style in Pontarlier, centre of early 20th century French absinthe production. Versatile and excellent either on its own with water or in cocktails.

La Maison Fontaine Verte is an herby absinthe which has a naturally green colour and a flavour which is refreshed and bright with anise, fennel and spicy white pepper. Liquorice and camomile also come through on the nose and the palate has an herbal complexity especially when served with the right amount of water for a good louche. The spiced anise notes linger long after drinking and ensure La Maison Fontaine Verte sticks in your mind.

Havana Club Selección de Maestros is a uniquely created triple barrel aged rum which has a distinctive red glow. Toasted pecans and deep spices fill the nose and this woody character continues in the mouth feel. Round and buoyant the palate is tantalised and teased by the zesty candied sweetness this rum offers yet tempered by warming toffee, tobacco and mild brown spices. A balanced flavour which allows the intensity of oak to help build its unique profile.

From Boondocks, in Bardstown Kentucky, comes this exceptional straight rye whiskey. It’s been made according to the laws passed in the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897, which means 50% ABV, four years aging, and that it’s been made entirely at a single distillery, in a single season.

Much-loved heavy metal band Slipknot has teamed up with Cedar Ridge Distillery to created Slipknot No.9 Whiskey! Blended by Slipknot's very own Shawn "Clown" Crahan (he can be seen sporting a clown mask when performing, hence the name), the whiskey features Iowa corn as well as a helping of rye, which brings a kick of spice to the fore. Both Slipknot and Cedar Ridge hail from Iowa, and judging by the whiskey they've made together, they seem like a fantastic fit. With that in mind, stick on Slipknot's Iowa album, pour yourself a glass of this and enjoy!

This 100% agave Herradura Anejo is one of the first and most popular anejo tequilas that Mexico has to offer. 24-25 months of ageing ensure the depth of colour and adds a hint of oak to the flavour. Single Barrel Tennessee Rye Whiskey draws its wonderful flavour from a unique 70% rye grain bill, matured to perfection in our handmade oak barrels, positioned in the upper reaches of our barrelhouses. Bottled at 90 proof, this is a big, bold rye that does not overpower. Complex flavours of ripe fruit mingle with light toasted oak notes, allowing the rye grain to shine through, creating a taste rich with spice and a pleasant lingering finish. Cenote's citrusy, peppery tequila gets delicious vanilla notes in this Reposado, thanks to its three month spell in American oak barrels. Glenmorangie's Quinta Ruban 12 Year Old is a fantastic Port cask finished expression, and now the distillery has developed upon the recipe with The Quinta Ruban 14 Year Old! The whisky is initially matured in bourbon casks before being moved over to ruby Port casks, imparting waves of scrumptious fruit and chocolate notes to the spirit. Superb as a postprandial dram.

Spirited Seas is a blend of premium dark rums finished at sea (eighty Atlantic crossings)! Out of the turbulent Atlantic Ocean comes Goslings Spirited Seas Rum. Hand selected ex bourbon barrels are filled with their superior rum from Bermuda and then loaded onto the M.V. Oleander, for a special year at sea to age. Travelling back and forth from Bermuda to the mid Atlantic, where the wild storms of the Gull Stream can magically appear. The result of its time at sea in these charred American white oak casks is an exquisitely elegant and complex rum with a lively, oaky nose. One of the three official Craigellachie bottlings released in 2014, their 13 year old single malt Scotch whisky handsomely shows off the bold, robust character of the distillery's output. Oodles of dynamic fruit notes with a distinctive current of smoke running through the middle. Single malt Craigellachie hasn't been seen much outside of indie bottlings recently, so this is an ace return to our glasses from the distillery!

TENNESSEE......... The whiskey has a caramel colour with a beautiful deep golden hue. Baled hay and pumpkin seeds on the nose with subtle notes of ripe stone fruit and caramel corn. Bold and spicy upfront then mellows with sweet caramel and maple, like biting into an oatmeal raisin biscuit . The finish is long and rich. It lingers pleasantly sweet on the palate with notes of vanilla after the spice dissipates.

Casamigos Reposado Tequila is hand-crafted from the finest 100% Weber Blue Agave, rested for a minimum of 7 months, this soft and glossy tequila delivers hints of caramel and cocoa. Michter's small-batch bourbon is named after a former 'oldest distillery in the USA', and is currently wowing the UK bar scene. Sweet, fruity and spicy, it packs in plenty of flavour.

Peated to a heavyweight 40ppm, Port Charlotte Scottish Barley is a multi-vintage Cuvee crafted from casks hand-picked by head distiller Adam Hannett. This remarkable single malt, originally created by the legendary distiller Jim McEwan, represents a union between the classic floral elegance of Bruichladdich and heavy peat.

A blend of St Aubin pot still rhum agricole aged 3 to 7 years in American and French oak.

With honey sweetness in abundance Hine Rare VSOP is a refined blend of eaux de vie which balances selections from both the Grande and Petite Champaign regions. Flavours of the Middle East are rich in this offering. Talisker’s Port Ruighe is wonderfully fruity and rich in notes of Turkish Delight. The nose is heavily doused in rose water, salted caramel and dried fruit. Great rhum agricole from Guadeloupe's Damoiseau, the XO expression spends at least 6 years maturing in ex-bourbon casks before being bottled at 42% ABV. You'll want to try this served neat, or perhaps over ice, though we reckon some classic rhum agricole cocktails would benefit from its full bodied flavour profile.

She’s certainly kept to the authentic Mexican tequila-producing methods and traditions, working closely with local family-owned agave farms and distilleries in Jalisco, Mexico. 818 Tequila Añejo is one of three tequilas of the 818 brand alongside 818 Tequila Blanco and 818 Tequila Reposado. Whereas Blanco tequilas are aged for between 2 months and not at all, and Reposado tequilas are aged for 2 months to a year, Añejo tequilas are aged for over 1 year, giving them that special aroma and uniquely rich taste. 818 Tequila is produced using traditional methods in Jalisco, Mexico at a family-owned-and-operated distillery. 818 Tequila Añejo is made from 100% Blue Weber Agaves, hand-picked by jimadores and slowly roasted in brick ovens for 40 hours by a family business in Jalisco, then aged in French oak barrels for 1 year before being exported to the UK.

Chita is Suntory's grain distillery. The flagship release is aged in a combination of wine, sherry and bourbon casks. This is a light whisky with subtle notes of mint, honey and wood spice.

A solid and spicy rye made to the Michter's recipe, although not distilled at the now closed Schaefferstown distillery. Nonetheless, Michter's is a name with a certain cult cachet in American whiskey circles, and we reckon this will be a big hit over here. We cannot guarantee specific barrel number or year of release of these bottles.

An interesting twist on Woodford Reserve's classic straight bourbon. The whiskey is first matured in new charred white oak barrels, as usual, but before bottling is transferred to special heavily toasted, lightly charred finishing barrel. This gives it quite a different flavour to normal, with lots of spicy oak coming through on the palate.

Ilegal Reposado is a 100% agave mezcal-style tequila which has the rich, sweet flavour of roasted agave. The aroma is thick with smoke and woody notes, peppered with notes of chilli and a flavour which is massively hot and spicy yet somehow creamy in the mouth. Buttery notes meld with vegetal sweetness to offer a combination you wouldn’t expect to work, but it does! That smoky flavour never fades and enhances every other flavour.

A very special luxury tequila, blended using reposado, anejo and extra anejo 100% agave tequilas. The blend is then subject to a proprietary filtering process that removes the colour while at the same time making the tequila exceptionally smooth and creamy in texture. Gran Centenario Anejo spends 18 months maturing in American oak barrels and despite a light flavour you’ll definitely be able to pick out those toasty wood notes. Wonderfully enjoyed over ice or as a shooter, Gran Centenario Anejo allows the taste of cooked agave to take centre stage. An earthy depth and cinnamon spice add to the character of this tequila and the flavour builds to a hot, spicy end which is intensely satisfying.

Known locally as Mount Gay Black this fine Barbadian rum brings together many different blends with ages of between 8 and 12 years. In Barbados you’ll hear calls for a ‘Black and Coke’ and this can only mean a good old shot of Mount Gay XO in their drink. Patron Anejo is treated with the same delicate nurturing process as a good wine. An interesting bourbon with a special twist. After the initial maturation it spends between 3 and 6 months finishing in port barrels. The more experimentation the better, especially when it turns out something like this , marrying the sweet caramel and grain of bourbon with the rich sticky wine flavours of a port cask.

A cask-strength version of the Boondocks 11 Year Old, aged in American oak and notable for its soft mouthfeel and harmonious balance of earthy, spicy flavours. Sample the malty corn cereal, milk chocolate and leather which is typical of this Kentucky distiller.

The Nikka Coffey Malt is the result of a unique distillation process in Coffey stills, which are normally used for grain whisky production. This rare 100% malt bottling offers a surprisingly rich texture and wonderful depth of flavour.

One of the newer offerings from the famous Jose Cuervo range, Jose Cuervo Reserva da le Familia Blanco is an exceptional new silver tequila. Limited edition, hand signed, hand dipped and corked, each bottle of Reserva Blanco is highly sought after and it’s easy to see why. The strength of quality agave comes through in the nose, closely followed by charred vegetables and hints at linseed oil. The flavour keeps the vegetable notes alive but teams them with fresh pear and of course the sweetness of agave. Pepper only comes through towards the end but it strong and satisfying.

KAH's Tequila Anejo is aged for two years in American oak. It comes presented in a black and white ceramic skull, inspired by the Nicaraguan rituals of honouring the dead.
