A vibrant, fruity new make grain spirit from Monkey Shoulder, Fresh Monkey is a combination of unaged grain and single malt spirit that were blended and bottled fresh off the still for a bold and well-balanced character. Created by London-based entrepreneur Rachel Verghis, MarGin is an artisanal gin that encapsulates the essence of the British ‘white fiver,’ originally issued by the Bank of England in 1793. This small-batch gin incorporates a precisely balanced infusion of nine botanicals, featuring juniper berries, pink hyssop, and cotton lavender among others. The outcome is an elegant, cool, and crisp flavour complemented by a dry yet smooth mouthfeel.

A powerful shooter like no other Stroh 80 is an intense and fiery rum which Austria is very proud of. It’s often enjoyed atop sweet desserts and as an additional kick to a comforting hot chocolate. Sweet notes of Demerara sugar can be picked out of the fiery heat of Stroh 80, alongside a soothing butterscotch with nutmeg hints. The intensity of Stroh 60 shouldn’t be underestimated and each taste will linger long after finishing.

Flamboyant Vieux Rum is a Mauritian offering which enjoys a relaxing seven years maturing in ex-bourbon barrels. It is named for the Flamboyant Tree which appear on its labelling and is a native species of Mauritius. The flavour of the rum is exotic as its naming, with floral notes present from the off and lingering until the end. Well-rounded but not lacking in flavour, Flamboyant Vieux Rum is just begging to be sipped.

Bushmills Black Bush is an interesting blend that’s a little different from the rest on the market. Bringing together malt whiskies which have been aged for 11 years in sherry casks for a truly alternative flavour. The nose is powerful with lemon, fresh grapes and barley with a flavour which is sweet, almost dairy-infused and rich in fruit. Its finish brings the barley back into centre stage and peppery notes come through strongly.

A single store right up in Aberdeen is where Chivas Regal is created. Chivas Regal 12 year is recognisable because it’s lighter than your average dram, has a distinct sweet aroma and a smoky character, distinguishable on the palate which releases elements of all the different flavours behind its blend.

A blended malt whisky from the folks at the famous William Grant distillery, Monkey Shoulder brings together a range of smooth single malts in beautiful harmony. The nose is an elegant marmalade-laced malty affair, with just a little clove and cinnamon spice. The flavour too is malt-driven yet creamy in the mouth with recognisable berries, toasted barley and butterscotch notes. An Irish vodka that deserves your attention, Dingle Distillery Vodka is distilled five times to deliver a smooth, sensuous flavour. Pure as they come, each glass of DDV is beautifully smooth and has a creaminess to its texture which makes you want to go back for more. Antigua’s finest, English Harbour rum spends a minimum of five years in aged bourbon barrels, delivering a touch of whisky spirit to each sip. Vanilla custard and cinnamon spice are the first scents that hit you and the flavour is deep with fudge and golden syrup, with the consistency of cinnamon carrying through. Different blends are brought together to deliver the end result, English Harbour rum which brings cinnamon to the centre stage and works wonderfully with your favourite ginger ale.

The drink which kept Napoleon Bonaparte sated during his exile, so legend tells us, the classic taste of Courvoisier VS remains popular today. One of the most enjoyed cognacs in the world it has a smooth, highly potable flavour and as it’s lighter than others in its class, it has great versatility. Whether it’s your after dinner drink or you use it for your light summer punches, Courvoisier VS remains mellow and offers flavours of toffee, orange and even coffee.

Rooster Rojo is produced using only the best ingredients and techniques. Rooster Rojo Anejo is made with Blue Agave, they used the Fabrica de Tequilas method, where you cook the Piña for 10 hours in autoclaves. After this, a special yeast is added to the Agave, just before fermentation. Rooster Rojo Anejo is double distilled in stainless steel pots and then aged in oak barrels. Finally, water that is filtered through Mexican silver is added to the drink, bringing it down to 38% ABV.

A true classic Spanish brandy, made in the same way since 1772, with some slight tweaks along the way, it is truly delicious . It's aged in American oak and is very easy drinking.

The Pusser's Rum collection has had a bit of a revamp. While their Blue Label is still made with the exact same blend of rums - a recipe from the Admiralty - it is now bottled at 40% abv rather that 54.5% abv. The reasoning behind this, is it allows Pusser's to be distributed to Naval bases, where the maximum allowed strength is 40%. If you're looking for the original 54.5% version, then fear not! It has now been rebranded as Pusser's 'Gunpowder Proof' Black Label.

Cask Islay is a small batch release from A.D. Rattray from an undisclosed distillery on the island. A whisky that will entice both Islay fans and be a great place for neophytes to start. Colour Golden Islay sunset. Nose Warm & fiery, roasting peat kiln, some citrus notes after the smoke. Palate Oily, burnt toffee, juicy barley and rich peat smoke. Conclusion Lively, peaty and full of flavour.

A colourful and bursting with flavour vodka from Boe. Filled with juicy fruity flavours of blackberries and blackcurrant. Mix with lemonade or citrus and watch the liquid change colour.

Roots Diktamo Liqueur is a deep brown in colour and rich in a huge range of aromatic and botanical flavours. The aroma is rich in peat and herbal freshness with a flavour which is complex and multi-layered with a little fruitiness and a wonderfully velvety texture. Using an aromatic plant which was known for its medicinal and aphrodisiacal qualities in ancient times, Roots Herb Spirit Liqueur is certainly a drink that deserves at least one taste.

Roots Mastiha Liqueur is produced using the resin of Mastic trees on the Greek island of Chios – believed to have medicinal properties – and also saw use as a breath freshener – since 5BC.

Try something different from your regular Tanqueray and tonic. Exotic and packed full of flavour Tanqueray Rangpur brings in the flavours of ginger, bay leaves and intensely fruity rangpur limes. In its striking bottle with its marmalade orange hues, Bulleit bourbon is high in rye which helps add real spice to its character. Award winning and becoming more and more popular, Bulleit has a pungent nose awash with orange and oak notes, as well as a hint of smoke and even a little banana. The flavour is creamy and full-bodied, zesty on the palate with orange and lime notes and then oaky tobacco comes through, enjoyable and warm.

Maker’s Mark’s claim to fame is that they distill their bourbon to the lowest proof in the whole of the US. They believe their distillation process ensures their bourbon’s rich, powerful flavour and the addition of red winter wheat adds a necessary smoothness. Fruity and rich on the nose you can enjoy the heat of spiced honey and the zest of mixed peels. Rye, spice and barley malt come through alongside butterscotch and vanilla, rounded the drink off perfectly.

Exuding class and a little mystery, our pal Johnnie Black deserves a spot in your drinks cabinet. Deep and complex with a flavour that tantalises the tongue, Johnnie Black has been perfectly refined with as many as 40 whiskies brought together to create a mature, intricate and enjoyable scotch. A long fruity finish is exceptional amongst others in its class, with currant and citrus notes lingering longest of all.

What could be more fitting for Gerry’s than Spirit of Soho gin? A local classic which lives up to its name and offers a quality London Dry gin offering. Premium in quality and produced a tribute to the King of Soho, traditional methods are used at every stage of production to deliver a juniper and coriander heavy gin which is just made for a cheeky gin sling or a classic G&T with lemon.

An iconic name in cognac, Martell has been producing quality bottles since 1715. Using sweet grapes from the Borderies region of Cognac, it has a naturally nutty flavour which stands out against others in its class. Regularly served with sweet ginger, tonic or simply on its own in a classic brandy balloon flavours of wood and spice stand out with lighter notes of citrus, pear and decadent saffron following after.

A classic Demerara Navy style rum produced in Guyana, Wood’s 100 blends together a range of young rums. Both pot still and continuously distilled rums make their way into the mix and it’s a distinct flavour that’s often used in tiki-style cocktails. Prunes, caramel and sweet toffee are the first aromas released on opening and they’re soon joined by nutmeg and cinnamon spiciness. Dark chocolate and fudge come through but the spiciness is the flavour that endures.

Legendario's Elixir De Cuba is a created using a blend of aged Cuban rum and raisin extracts and brought down to 34% ABV. A light, relaxed punch, perfect for a warm summer evening.

Jameson Caskmates is an intriguing release. Having sent some of their casks to the local craft stout brewers at Franciscan Well, the casks were returned to Midleton where they were subsequently used to give a stout finish to Jameson! We tasted it before it was available in the UK when we visited Cork just before St. Patrick's Day 2015, and we know that some of the fine folk at Irish Distillers were worried that it may be seen as a bit of a gimmick. Perhaps to an extent it is, but more importantly, it works - a worthwhile experiment that's produced a unique and interesting Irish whiskey.

ROKU is Japanese for six, named after the six natural Japanese botanicals that Roku is made with, which take you on a tour of the Japanese seasons. Spring is represented by both Sakura (cherry blossom) flowers & leaves, Natsu (Japan's Summer) provides the Sencha & Gyokuro (two types of green tea), Autumn brings the Japanese pepper and Winter, the Yuzu. The eclectic mix of botanicals results in a spirit with rich character. Notes of cherry blossom are quickly followed by green tea, smokey leaves and a light bitter finish. Unusual and unexpected, this is a must-try for any gin lover, adn the Japanese rice paper label makes it a classy and smart addition to the gin shelf.

Howler Head brings together Kentucky bourbon and natural banana flavour to create a fab tipple that'll be excellent sipped neat or over ice. All those familiar bourbon flavours – caramel, honey, baking spices, and the like – pair wonderfully with the estery deliciousness of banana, so no surprises there. Howler Head will also do well in fruit-forward twists on classic cocktails, like the Old Fashioned or the Manhattan... Nose: Huge helpings of vanilla and banana fritter, followed by a whiff of cinnamon, with a touch of cask char developing. Palate: Ripe banana esters with a hint of banana pancake too, backed up by brown sugar, peppercorn, and toffee. Finish: Banana chips with a drizzle of honey, and a final hint of oak spiciness.
