The Cotswolds Distillery in Stourton is up and running - hooray! This is their Cotswolds Dry Gin, made with juniper, coriander and angelica root macerated in their pure wheat spirit for 24 hours. Following this, they add a botanical selection including bay leaf, grapefruit, lime, black pepper, cardamom seed and Cotswolds lavender to their carter head still for distillation. To bring it down to bottling strength, a robust 46% ABV, they use naturally refined Cotswolds water.

The Maritime Gin is an infusion of botanicals with 5 different types of seaweed, all locally sourced. Some of the botanicals are dried and others blast chilled, with the more delicate placed in Méabh’s vapour tray. Spring is represented by both Sakura (cherry blossom) flowers & leaves, Natsu (Japan's Summer) provides the Sencha & Gyokuro (two types of green tea), Autumn brings the Japanese pepper and Winter, the Yuzu. Created by London-based entrepreneur Rachel Verghis, MarGin is an artisanal gin that encapsulates the essence of the British ‘white fiver,’ originally issued by the Bank of England in 1793. This small-batch gin incorporates a precisely balanced infusion of nine botanicals, featuring juniper berries, pink hyssop, and cotton lavender among others. The outcome is an elegant, cool, and crisp flavour complemented by a dry yet smooth mouthfeel.

A London Dry Gin made with botanicals from along the traditional spice route that led back to the UK. Indonesian Cubeb berries, Indian black pepper and Moroccan coriander are all used in this gin, launched by Quintessential Brands in 2013.

Jaffa Cake Gin is distilled with oranges, fresh orange peel, cocoa powder and Jaffa cakes. Actual Jaffa cakes. As in “Right, we could eat these yummy Jaffa cakes, or we could put the Jaffa cakes in this vacuum still and make Jaffa Cake Gin.” It’s that kind of situation. The result is just like you’d expect - full-on Jaffa cake tastiness built around a distinctive base of crisp juniper. An original family recipe lives on in Hayman’s Old Tom. Clean and fresh in its flavours with a history dating back to the 1860s, Old Tom uses the same ten botanicals it always has. It stands out from others in the Hayman’s collection due to the intensity of the botanicals within and the addition of sugar for sweetness. Juniper and orange zest work together to introduce the drink and by the end you’ll be enjoying cracked black pepper in a clean, long finish.

A Spanish gin that is one of only two gins in the world with its own EU Designation of Origin, Xorigeur is based on an 18th century recipe and was popular with the sailors at that time. The green handled bottle makes it stand out from the crowd but it’s the perfumed flavour and orange-rich character which really make this gin sing. A grape alcohol base gives it a juicy flavour which is peppered with bright herbaceous and spicy notes. Fresh, almost menthol juniper ends each sip, lingering as a quenching aftertaste.

Made in a copper still over 150 years old, Plymouth gin has a well matured, authentic and enjoyable dry gin flavour. Plymouth is made using no bitter botanicals and it’s the aromatic pine-driven juniper that comes first followed by lavender and camphor with a touch of lemon zest. On first sip a zing of lavender hits first and lemon and orange soon follow, with earthy notes bringing the drink into a mellow finish. Refreshing yet steeped in subtle flavours, a classic gin for your favourite cocktail.

Hayman’s London Dry was launched in 2008 and is the brand’s shot at the classic dry gin style. Ten botanicals are used, as with all Hayman’s gins, and strong notes of crystallised lemon and orange peel paired with lavender are the first scents you’ll smell. Dry orris root is the first flavour you’ll taste alongside pine and juniper as well as zesty lime. The aftertaste is bitter with the juniper still lingering.

The signature gin from the East London Liquor Company, a distillery based in Bow Wharf (right near Victoria Park, for those of you that know the area). This London Dry Gin is made with 100% British wheat spirits and infused with a bright selection of botanicals, including fresh lemon and grapefruit peels, cubeb berries, cardamom, coriander, angelica root and Macedonian juniper berries.
