Followed quickly by a velvety cherry taste at the back of your mouth and a long, sour finish. We’re enjoying ours on the rocks, but it’s also fantastic with tonic and a Maraschino cherry garnish.

Dried pink grapefruit and earl grey tea followed by a strong liquorice undercurrent that leads into a sort of crushed Parma Violet sweets affair. Kick is woody and spicy and leads into juniper, bergamot and faint ginseng notes. All in all bloody good.

Citadelle Gin is a wheat based gin which soaks up the warm flavour of cognac through its production in cognac stills. 19 botanicals are added to create the distinct flavour of Citadelle, leafy on the nose and clean on the palate. The name ‘Jindea’ is a portmanteau of ‘Juniper’ and the French words for India and tea, which provides a fairly accurate picture of the brand, as it is made in an alembic still in France, with juniper and first-flush Darjeeling tea as its main botanicals. Jindea’s other botanicals are lemon, grapefruit, coriander, ginger, fennel, cardamom, cinnamon, and angelica. Maceration lasts between three and five days, followed by pot still distillation.

Heavy on the botanicals upon entry which almost mask the juniper. Bergamot peel mid palette followed by herbs and flowers. Gentle kick followed by stronger juniper notes with a sweet, almost lavender undercurrent on the close.

Here we have Stonewall London Dry Gin, inspired by the Stonewall riots in New York in June 1969. The gin itself is distilled in Lincolnshire, and boasts almond, blueberry, liquorice, cardamom and sea buckthorn among the botanicals.
